Laser Alignment
High-accuracy laser alignment that corrects angular and parallel shaft misalignment, cutting vibration, heat and premature component failure.
How it works
Misalignment is one of the most common — and most preventable — causes of premature bearing and seal failure, coupling wear and elevated energy consumption on rotating machinery. Even alignment that looks fine by eye can be well outside tolerance at the shaft.
VibroCon performs precision laser shaft alignment on pumps, motors, gearboxes, fans and compressor drivetrains, correcting both angular and parallel misalignment in horizontal and vertical planes — at pre-commissioning, and as post-maintenance verification once work is complete.
What our laser alignment covers
- Angular and parallel misalignment correction
- Pre-commissioning alignment for new installations
- Post-maintenance and post-repair verification
- Soft foot detection and correction
- Horizontal and vertical drive train alignment
- Before/after alignment reports with tolerance bands
Signs it's time for laser alignment
New motor, pump or gearbox installation or replacement
Repeated coupling or seal failures, or elevated bearing temperatures
Vibration analysis flagging a misalignment frequency signature
Baseplate or foundation work recently completed
Common questions about laser alignment
Why not just align by straightedge or feeler gauge?
Laser alignment measures to a fraction of the tolerance a straightedge can achieve, and it's the accepted standard for anything beyond low-speed, low-criticality equipment.
How long does a laser alignment job take?
A typical single coupling alignment takes one to a few hours depending on access, soft foot issues found, and shimming required.
Does misalignment really affect energy consumption?
Yes — misaligned drivetrains work against themselves, which shows up as extra current draw and heat at the bearings and coupling, and directly hurts Mean Time Between Failures.
